BUTCH BABY
After moving to Boston for school, I met this kid Shiloh. We became best friends, and he decided he wanted to make music with me! I never realized that it was my dream to be a punk bari sax player until it happened in Butch Baby. In Butch Baby my playing is particularly influenced by Moon Hooch, X-Ray Spex, and Dana Colley of Morphine. It’s really fun to scream-sing and make noises that the saxophone isn’t supposed to make, or isn’t necessarily known to make. I really enjoy that some of the sounds that come out of my saxophone couldn’t be identified as a saxophone all the time. Many of Shiloh’s songs are about mourning, or anger, or rough situations, and the bari sax can have a very moaning almost vocal-like sound, which I really enjoy discovering while writing and playing with Shiloh and Butch Baby.

Butch Baby has been active since March 2018.
